2PP029 – 5 May 2010

2pp_album_art_110x1101.jpgWe begin with the Arizona law targeting illegal Hispanic immigrants. That leads to a discussion of some of the aspects of illegal immigration that get ignored. That leads on to a wider chat about immigration reform—the way to move beyond the problems Arizona was trying to deal with. A legal immigrant is our next topic: The would-be Times Square bomber. After talking a little about that, we move on to talk about policies dealing with terrorists. Finally, we talk about the oil spill, some of the political reactions to it and some of the ways forward.

It’s a wide-ranging discussion today, all packed into one of our shortest episodes. This episode was recorded May 4/5, but was delayed because Arthur was swamped with work and other projects.

  1. Roger Green says:

There is an enhanced Driver’s License, somewhat comparable with a passport, now available in four states:
    New York
These are valid for traveling to Mexico and Canada by land, and to Bermuda and places in the Caribbean by sea, though not for other international travel or for air travel. Probably not coincidentally, these are states that are on the border…with Canada.
